The start of the season 8 on January 13th is not the only thing for American Idol fans to be excited about. Premiering in mid-February at Disney World's Hollywood Studios is the American Idol Experience.
Yes, Disney has gotten together with the creators of the American Idol franchise to create a version of the popular show that you can experience.
The attraction will allow guests, who believe they have what it takes to go through stages of an auditioning process to earn the right to perform live that day in front of judges and an audience.
Here is an excerpt from the Disney Press release:
Subject to availability, Guests inside Disney's Hollywood Studios™ may audition for the opportunity to be selected as a singer in one of The American Idol Experience preliminary shows that day.
Auditions will be judged based on singing talent and ability to perform in front a live audience. Only a few singers will be chosen for each show and selections will likely be made early in the day. Guests who audition will have a brief initial screening audition (singing solo without live or recorded instruments) in front of a Disney representative who will determine whether the Guest can proceed to a second audition. Guests who are invited to a second audition will sing solo to a pre-recorded instrumental track (from a song selected by the singer from a list provided by Disney) in front of another Disney representative who will determine whether the Guest will be given the opportunity to sing onstage that day in one of The American Idol Experience shows.
Guests must be 14 or older, sign required documentation and otherwise comply with the Guidelines to audition and sing onstage at the attraction (age requirements to audition and sing onstage do not match those required to use the Dream Ticket). The singer voted best by the audience of each of The American Idol Experience preliminary shows will be given the opportunity to sing live onstage in The American Idol Experience finale show that night. The singer voted best by the audience at each finale show will receive a Dream Ticket which allows an eligible holder (see eligibility requirements above) to make a reservation to participate in one audition in the initial public round of auditions for the American Idol TV program. If the recipient is not eligible to use the Dream Ticket, it may be transferred once to an eligible person, but may not be sold or promoted in any way. The Dream Ticket does not include travel, meals, accommodations or any other expenses. Other than the reserved time, Dream Ticket holders will audition for the American Idol TV program on the same basis as everyone else and will not receive preferential treatment. There is no guarantee that Dream Ticket holders will be seen by the TV judges or appear on the American Idol TV program.Additional details concerning the audition process and other aspects of the attraction experience will be described in Guidelines which will be available later this year at disneyworld.com/idol and may change from time to time.
