Construction has begun on a new 300 seat Authentic Italian Pizzeria in the Italy Pavilion at Epcot. The pizzeria will be managed by the Patina Restaurant Group which also manages Tutto Italia, the current Table Service Restaurant found in the Italy Pavilion.
The pizzeria will be a welcome addition to the Pavilion. Their specialty will be authentic Neopolitan Pizza baked in wood burning ovens. Here is what they say about the ingredients that they use:
"Caputo flour imported from Southern Italy, San Marzano tomatoes, handmade Fior de latte mozzarella, water from a local spring just like the springs in Italy's Campania region make our pizza as authentic and delicious as that on the streets in Naples."
This will be a far departure from the pizza that is available elsewhere on the Disney World property.
The Patina Restaurant Group's Flagship Pizzeria is called Naples 45 and is located in New York City. There is a 2nd pizzeria located in Downtown Disney at Disneyland called Naples Ristorante E Pizzeria. Most likely this one will have Naples in the name as well.
The NYC Naples 45 is widely recognized for its great pizza. On the Patina Restaurant Group website it states:
"Noted for making "one of America's 10 greatest pizzas," and "Best Pizza in Midtown", Naples 45 was awarded the coveted certification of "La Vera Pizza Napoletana," in recognition of serving authentic Neapolitan pizza made with traditional ingredients, methods, and wood-burning ovens - one of only two such awards in New York City."
Table Service or Quick Service?
The new structure is to have Florentine architecture with vaulted ceilings, and indoor and outdoor seating. This sounds like the pizzeria may be a Table Service restaurant instead of a Quick Service location. Those details are not known at this time. It appears to be getting away from the typcial Epcot formula of having a Table Service and a Quick Service location in the International Pavilions.
Already the Disney World location is mentioned on the menu for the other Naples locations. The prices appear to be high (even by Disney standards), but the food sounds wonderful. The Naples 45 location has what is called "luxury take-out" to go with its table service dining.

Although construction is underway, this new eatery is not expected to be open until sometime this Fall. You will find the pizzeria in the back area of the Italy Pavilion. It will be in very close proximity to the Tutto Italia restaurant.
The menu looks great and we are certainly looking forward to trying out the Pizza once it opens. If only we didn't have to wait until Fall!
