Everyone is excited about the upcoming 3rd installment of the wonderful Disney•Pixar classic Toy Story series called "Toy Story 3."  Along with the new story comes new characters to go along with all of your favorites like Buzz, Woody, Mr. Potato Head, Hamm, & Rex.


Changes To Toy Story Mania!
In late May both  Disney World and Disneyland will be making changing to their Toy Story Mania! attractions.  The great part is that they will not have to shut down the attraction to implement the changes!



Since the attraction uses the latest computer based technology, Disney Imagineers will actually be able to make the necessary changes overnight while the park is closed and when it opens the next morning one of the 5 Midway games that you play during Toy Story Mania! will be totally different.
Introducing Rex & Trixie's Dino Darts
The newest arrival to the Midway will be called: “Rex and Trixie’s Dino Darts.”   Here Disney guests will take aim at targets in a primeval world populated with volcanoes and lava balloons.  They will shoot virtual darts to pop the balloons and seek out hidden surprises.


Game players are welcomed by Rex (the nervous Tyrannosaurus rex) and his new friend Trixie (a blue Triceratops and one of the toy characters from the new film) cheering them on.

Unfortunately, in order to introduce a new game, one of your old favorites has to be removed. In this case it will be “Bo Peep’s Baaa-loon Pop.”

Other Toy Story Mania! Changes

• The “Hamm & Eggs” game will now be hosted by Hamm and Buttercup (a toy unicorn with heart-shaped nostrils).
• In the prize scene, Trixie, Buttercup, Dolly (a doll), Mr. Pricklepants (a lederhosen-clad hedgehog) and one other surprise – all from “Toy Story 3” – will appear with Woody and Jessie.
• Pixar Animation Studies is creating animation of the new characters plus animation for “Rex and Trixie’s Dino Darts.”
• New music – a dino-themed version of Randy Newman’s “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” – comes from veteran music editor and Newman collaborator Bruno Coon, who did the original music for the attraction.

According to Sue Bryan, senior show producer, director, Walt Disney Imagineering:

“Our number-one goal in creating Toy Story Mania! was to come up with game-play challenges appropriate for all guests, from little kids to serious gamers.  I love that we are keeping things fresh and new by adding these great new friends and fun to join some of the most popular characters of all time.”

Looking Forward To New Toy Story Mania!
We are looking forward to seeing the new changes, and are very excited that Disney Imagineering is making use of technology to update an attraction with no downtime required!

Maybe some day in the future Toy Story Mania! will get to the point where the Midway scenes are randomized (with multiple options for each of the 5 stations) and you will rarely experience two rides that are ever alike.  This way you could also see new additions like Rex & Trixie's Dino Darts, but would not have to completely say good bye to old favorites like “Bo Peep’s Baaa-loon Pop.”
