The year round landscaping in Epcot is amazing with no area more impressive than the Victoria Gardens that can be found in the World Showcase Canada Pavilion. Here you will find a wide variety of blooming plants and gardens that provide a picturesque backdrop during any season.
Victoria, British Columbia is home to The Butchart Gardens, which may be one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world. The Butchart Gardens were started by Jennie Butchart in the exhausted limestone quarry that was used by her husband, Robert Butchart, for his cement business.
In all there are 55 acres that got their humble beginnings in that quarry over a hundred years ago. This has become a major tourist attraction in Canada and is reknowned throughout the world. The Butchart Gardens are now recognized as a National Historic Site of Canada and it is fitting that it is chosen to be included in the Epcot Canada Pavilion.
Victoria Gardens
The Victoria Gardens can be found in the Canada Pavilion between the exit to O' Canada! and the walkway to get to the Le Cellier Steakhouse. The gardens provide beautiful views no matter what time of year that you visit Disney World.
The Disney World Horticultural staff has done a wonderful job constructing and maintaining these beautiful gardens. When the gardens were initially developed the plants were brought to Florida and given two years to aclimate to the Florida heat before they were put into the gardens.
Gardening Excellence Year Round
You do not have to visit Epcot during the International Flower & Garden Festival to see wonderful blooming gardens. All you have to do is visit the Canada Pavilion and visit the Victoria Gardens! It serves as the perfect background for your family or couple photos and will also provide you with great ideas for creating gardens to enhance your personal landscaping.
I live in BC and have been to Buchart Gardens, they are wonderful. When I am at Epcot I always feel an extra bit more at home at the Canada Pavilion since I have been to the gardens. They don't have a Le Cellier . . . too bad.
Gaylin, Thanks for the comment. Having had the opportunity to enjoy Epcot's Victoria Gardens on many occasions, I hope that I will get a chance to see the "real" Butchart Gardens some day.
